Anyone think that with the amount of money in the IPT any of the players made savers? and by saver i mean some sort of splitting of the winnings regardless of the outcome. The most obvious point of savers would be between the filipinos considering there were three in the final round or between hohmann and manolo where there is a 250k difference between 1st and 2nd... any thoughts?

I am pretty sure Hohmann wouldn't think about a saver for the finals.

Thorsten doesnt make deals. He enters to win and plays like a warrior.

Tanner, I was responding to NYC cue dude's claim the others did this, I personally do believe any players did, esp Toastie.

I just wanted him to explain how that would work in a round robin format, the only time I know of players agreeing to split would be in a finals... in the round robin format this seems impossible to me and pointless.

Yes, players did make deals and its very easy to do in a round robin format - they just need to be aware of who can help you and when - and they also need to know what to offer - Especially if players understand their win % will get them advanced.

Example: Its round 2 and Player A has 35.5 and player B has 65.5 in the 4th game of the round - a deal can be made to allow player B to advance and increase his win % - and even pad his Games Won total - for a slice of his final earnings when he is eventually eliminated. Player A knows that he has no chance to advance (or just doesnt want to) so he can cut a deal with Player B to minimize the damage in the stats. The favor can and will be returned at a later date when the situation arises. There is no way to stop these deals, and yes, speculative as it may seem to hear about it from me, it did happen at this event (first hand knowledge) and it will continue to happen as long as the money is there for the taking. If player B advances and is eliminated in the next round, Player A will win his $5K plus whatever he made with his deal from Player B. Player A can do this with as many players as he wants within his group during this round - and potentially make more money than the guys that advance to round 3. I'm not saying all players do this, but it does happen even in this format.
