Saw blade setup questions

> In the initial setup of the saw blade method for parting off ring billets,are you indicating the blade with your indicator in the chuck,or mounted elsewhere? Is an AGD indicator good enough for this,or do you use a test indicator? (I have an AGD and 2 Interapid test indicators,one with .0001 resolution.)

Is the blade positioned with the teeth up or down? Are you using forward or reverse spindle rotation in combination with the saw mechanism? Who makes a small enough router to be used for this,surely a Dremel isn't strong enough for this? Also,are you using the cross-feed,or feeding by hand? If so,what feed rate? Thanks,Tommy D.

Dial indicator is good test indicator is better. I set the saw up where it will be mounter in the toolpost and indicate it there. Also run the spindle in Rev. and hand feed. This lathe has one job... Parting rings. Also spin the blade by hand to make sure it is running true to the arbor.

I use a dial indicator on the bed of the lathe to calculate the thickness of each ring. The teeth are spinning down and the billet ring it spinning in reverse. I do not use a Dremel. I use a Porter Cable laminate trimmer. I dial in the crosslide by hand and run the lathe on about 350 rpms.
