If Rob would like to take a trip to Ft. Myers he can play the 12 ball ghost at my pool hall on one of my gold crown 3.

This thread got real quiet!!!!
Probably because nothing ever comes of games on here. Just a lot of talk. Rob Melrose??? You gotta be kidding me. He is a shortstop. Did you really think he was going to try the 12 ball ghost on a tight table. Didnt take a lot of heart for you to offer that game did it??
That oughtta liven this thread up!

I don't know who this guy is I just moved here from chicago. Billychips, you stake chris sometimes?

Hollywood billiards....

AZE, last time I was down there that place was a HOLE! (I felt like I was in a time warp playing Jimmy King down in Alabama on a crappy bar tabl!!) No offense to you or anyone that loves the place, but the RED felt was sloooow, worn out, and there was no de-humidifier in sight/operation. I am old enough to have had the pleasure of playing on crap like that, but I do appreciate Simonis and Granito for consistancy. That place reminded me of a college rec-room that was NOT very well taken care of. There is a much better place to play over on university in the Pines, can't remember the place right now.... Anyway, is your "boy" tall, chunky, and wear a diamond ring? That is the only Rob I can think of at the moment that used to play decent in that area.

Anyway, I'll be down there on vacation next week and we can play some 1P and banks. I haven't been playing lately and will be enjoyin the sun and Fat tuesdays, but we can play. I find it amusing that you are complaining about action down there, plenty in Orlando and miami. Most backers I know always want the world if they can actually play and step to the table, not just the nuts!! Pretty amusing considering all the smack you hear. (Pool halls should have a boxing ring in the back to squash all that sh-t) I have found that the BEST players gamble with their OWN money. They are much, much, tougher to beat.

Anyway, do you have a real name? I am Dr. Scott. 6'2", 250, shaved cube, and muscular. Looking forward to it, Scott

Sorry Dr. but you have the wrong spot, you mean the Billiard Club on 84...I think had the red cloth and I think its closed. Hollywood isnt the most glamorous spot but the action tables are in pretty good shape. The second spot on Pines is also closed, more a Night Club with pool tables and too much Key West themed crap.

Voodoo....

Pretty positive I have the place right. (North side of street with angle parking a couple of blocks before US1) And I do seem to remember the red felt! ;o) Maybe AZE will chime in. The other hall I mentioned is/was behind the Dodge Dealership on University south of Sheridan. (Not the 84 spot) The last place had 9ft tables with slow and fast felt as I recall. Scott

Wrong place

CSCOTT,

Hollywood billiards is right off of 441 just north of Hollywood blvd by the turnpike. The place behind the dodge dealership is Beyon Billiards.

Hollywood has nice tables - rather old room, but action was good, when i lived there.

the place you are talking about is down by US1 is Gold Crown......

FWIW

Hollywood has never had red cloth. I'm pretty sure Margie, one of the owners, would cringe at the thought.

AZE is the new stakehorse @Hollywood? KEWL!

Stixnballs.......

Thanks for the correction! I have also played a rather tall Indian at Hollywood billiards. Brain does get foggy with time! I'm still up for a game AZE, Scott

Troy Frank beat me 2 sets for 500 last night playing the 12 ball ghost.
What sort of table was he playing on, and how was the rack, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know if it's just me, but playing the ghost for action is weird! especially if you have someone betting on it. You have one guy betting another guy on the pool table, but only one of them ever picks up a cue. Sounds like a gaff shot session.

If you have 2 players ready for action, why aren't they playing each other? Is it easier action to sit and watch someone play the ghost?

I don't know....I've been bored sitting at the pool room too looking for action, but never THAT bored!:D
