SB lathe

It's a shame that he didn't take the time to clean and detail it out a bit. A little paint maybe.
He could easily get 3 times what he's asking for it.
I've owned a couple of these. They're horses. Good starter lathe. I'm just not wild about a flat-belt drive.
The ways are soft, the spindle sits on babbit brgs. and the 1/2 nuts are weak (and expensive).
Other than that and now knowing that, you might be able to do something.
I don't totally dislike SouthBend. I've still got a 'Heavy 10' that I do a lot of work on.
They can be a money-maker if you've got the work.
Somebody buy it.

Where the hell is Gastonia??? What country is that in???
