I think I'm going to go to SBE this year for the first time and may be looking to buy and sell some cues. I'm just wondering how that process goes since i will not have a booth. how do you let people know you are looking to buy and sell?

jmoschgat...Just to let you know, Allen Hopkins FROWNS heavily on those cuemakers that try to sell cues, that did not buy a booth. If you get caught you will be expelled immediately from the expo, and probably barred from coming back. I don't know if you're a cuemaker, or not. Not trying to scare you, but they read these forums. Nothing wrong with trading with other vendors though. You might do better putting your cues on consignment, in with one of the vendors.

Good idea. But I also mean just with others at the expo as well

Not a cuemaker in the least, just a guy with a couple cues he'd like to sell or trade, not sure if that makes any difference, I had just seen others talking about what cues they'd have available at the expo (not dealers or makers). Thanks for the heads up!

I have seen a few people get thrown out for this. One guy had two big cases full and a lot of the vendors complained about it and when Allen found him he was out. All the vendors pay good money for the booths so it's only natural to understand why they were upset. If you have that many cues I would suggest you get a booth. If its wort having the word will get around and they will come to you. Best of luck.

probably about 2 cues i'd have.

In all honesty your best bet is to post it here first what you have that you want to sell and then go down there and meet up with someone in the food area or something etc. Because like its been said if you get caught selling on the "floor" you will get expelled from the event. Talk to the vendors there and see if they would work with you maybe have someone like an omega try and sell for you on consignment. etc.

What Scott is telling you is how it is, he is not trying to put the fear of GOD in you. But lets say you have been warned, and now you know the RULE of Mr. Hopkins event!

If you have a couple cues then just post them in the WFS section and let people know you will be there and your phone #. When you go to the expo you can ask the sellers of used cues if they are interested in your cues. When you are walking around and you strike up conversations you can mention you have a couple cues for sale.

Just like on the forums don't spam people with it and you won't get an flak. Tons of people at SBE are looking to sell or trade a couple cues. Just come in with your regular case and you're fine.

The ones that are really a problem are the dealers who roll in with a hundred cues up in their hotel room (not possible this year with no attached hotel) and who walk around with 20 of them on their back. These guys take any available table and set up a "booth" for as long as they can hold court. Their customers are constantly bugging the vendors to be allowed to use their pool table to test a cue out and you see the "dealer" standing off to the side trying to be sly.
