Yep, I got on the waiting list today. Finally got my "work schedule" so I will leave Thursday around noon to drive down.Tell Alan to add spots to the Friday seniors tournament and I'll be there. Not going to go for 6 days to do the Amateur Open, make gauranteed 3rd place money working.
I'm in the seniors as of this morning!Yep, I got on the waiting list today. Finally got my "work schedule" so I will leave Thursday around noon to drive down.
Same here, I have to actually win it to cover a week of work
Maybe we can get that game going we talked about.I'm in the seniors as of this morning!
I'm bringing plenty of money. Someone can win it all if they post and give this old man a fair game!
I played 6 hours in past 6 months. So it shouldn't be hard to beat me.
7 out?Maybe we can get that game going we talked about.
Ive played maybe 10 games since Nov, but I'm gonna start hitting em on my favorite table in the next few days. Outage is finally over7 out?
You'd be stealing....probably.
I will be playing these next few weeks!
Did not know that. Where would you recommend to go that is close to the Expo with 9ft tables?
Thank you - this helps me out and narrows things down a lot. Hopefully I can make it out to one this year.Sadly only a few decent rooms remain within ~1 hour drive from the expo:
There might be some more places on the far west side that I have not explored, but these are the main rooms in Philly AFAIK.
- Markley’s is closest and has probably a dozen gold crowns & 4 diamond smart tables (the kind that will be used in the amateur event at the expo). It’s the only room currently with a weekly (Friday) tournament. The guys behind the counter say they’ll probably be open 24 hours during that week if they’ve got enough business. I expect it to be a madhouse and a real good time.
- Fusco’s The Spot is also about 30 min drive and has about 2 dozen GC’s and also a dozen diamond smart tables. They are open till 4am, latest in the area. They allow smoking indoors. You can always find a game here late night.
- Bluegrass billiards is 40 mins away and has probably 2 dozen GC’s and several standard bar tables (not diamonds). Great room and plenty of local action, especially if you want one pocket.
- Delran billiards is a bit of a hike into Jersey but has several full size tables (some are GC's) and several smart tables with the same Cyclop balls that the tournament will use.
- There’s a place still listed on google maps in south Philly called "Ball Busters” which I think is no longer open. Call before making the trek.
- A place called South Philly Pool Hall has the most 3-cushion tables you’ll find in the area, if that’s your bag. Probably half a dozen gold crowns that are a bit crowded together too.
- Buffalo billiards is not worth the effort despite having 4 gold crowns and being in center city near all the interesting parts of Philly. They cater to the drunks instead of players, cloth has never been changed, balls are mix/matched from random sets, the pockets are buckets, tables are partially obstructed etc. They will have a lot of aging hipsters and vapid ex-sorority girls if that’s your scene. Enjoy having red stains on your cue from now on, because they provide well-used chalk to match their esoteric cloth choice. They do have decent beer on tap, so you can drown your sorrows instead of shooting pool.
- 123 billiards has some off-brand full size tables but i’d go to the others ^ first.
- There's a joint in Jersey called Burlington Private Billiards Club that has 5 full size diamonds like they'll have at the expo's pro events. It's pretty far from the expo, has limited hours, and requires a $20 membership fee.
The spot is brutal if you don't smoke, good room otherwiseSadly only a few decent rooms remain within ~1 hour drive from the expo:

Glad you mentioned that. Yeah, I will be crossing that off the list. Man, I wish Drexeline was still open.The spot is brutal if you don't smoke, good room otherwise
Markley's will be open 24 hours during Expo week.Thanks.
I'll see you thereMarkley's will be open 24 hours during Expo week.

Next Thursday. You got itPm me or call when you get into town.
Yep, thinking about cancelling my room. I got a notification right after I booked it yesterday that masks were required again.https://6abc.com/philadelphia-covid-19-indoor-masking-face-mask-covid-19-philly/11738071/
Looks like Philly just made masks required indoors... starting on... you guessed it April 18th.
-----------
Due to increasing COVID-19 cases,
@PhiladelphiaGov
will move to Level 2: Mask Precautions beginning today. In order to provide a one-week education period for businesses, masks will be required in all indoor public spaces as of Monday, April 18, 2022.
Starting April 18, masks will be required in all indoor public spaces, including schools and childcare settings, businesses, restaurants, and government buildings. At that time, residents will be asked to report any business not complying with the mandate to
@philly311.
The mask mandate is tied to the COVID Response Levels, and as COVID cases rise in Philly, we want to protect our most vulnerable residents. Wearing a mask around others is an easy way to do that. The sooner that we can stop this wave, the sooner we can get back to Level 1.
