SBE question

I thought the 1st SBE was held in Valley Forge, PA in 1993, I have heard a few people reference about it
being held in northern New Jersey., was the one in Edison. They made it sound like it was before valley forge
and I have never known anything about it.
 
I`ve been going to SBE since 1994. I do remember 1 yr it was in Edison, NJ. But since then it was moved back to PA.
Love going to it every year.
 
Yes it was in jersey the first year, then moved to pa, then that turned into a casino earlier then expected so they were scrambling and went back to jersey for 2 years. It was terrible there lol then they found the current location back in philli.

If I remember correctly part of the reason they left jersey is they came in and made all the vendors pay tax on what they thought they were going to sell before the expo even started. That didn’t sit well With anyone. Either way it was terrible there and I’m glad It moved.

I think the problem was that the first year back in NJ, nobody paid taxes. NJ was upset and came down hard the second year. Or maybe that was just a rumor.

I know the taxing was an issue and you could be very well correct. It’s a cash business mostly at those events and I’m sure some falls through the cracks. Lol
 
I think the first one was in Secaucus.Not really sure, but I do remember riding up the Turnpike to get there.
Valley Forge was better than the Oaks
I liked the 2 yrs at Raritan center in NJ because at the time I lived a few miles away

Thank You, I have been at all SBE events until this year, (wife sick) I did not know about Secaucus.
 
I attended the first Expo in Secaucus. Pretty cool. Am I recalling correctly that Barry Szamboti had a booth that year?
