Scamming getting out of hand.

Sent flipmo a pm to purchase his Revo Shaft. I instantly received an email from a Miller Dustin wanting payment. Knowing that flipmo's name is not Miller or Dustin, I started questioning him about things, how'd you get my email address, what's wrong with using AZ's PM system etc.. He had an answer for everything, he just didn't have one for, when did you change your name? His email is; millerdustin0147@gmail.com. Be careful everyone, Brian.
I just received another email from Ever Gladesboy, email; ever.gladesboy21@gmail.com
I got a strange email yesterday right after I posted in "Wanted" looking for a Revo 12.9. It was from MillerDustin asking me if I wanted to buy a Predator Sang Lee 3 plus a 12.9 revo for $600. Sang Lee 3's sell for at least $1400. He immediately wanted my paypal info, way too aggressive in emailing me asking me for payment and shipping info. Beware everyone, this MillerDustin guy is a scammer imho.

Do we think these scammers are pro scammers in a 3rd world country that know nothing about pool, but read up on a few things to be better at scamming? And they have some sort of alert to notify them anytime someone posts in the for sale section?

Or, is it someone in the USA that is an actual pool player and one of the community?

This is Dustin Miller.

Larry (bbb) shot me a text to let me know about this thread. Thanks Larry.

I've occassionallly sold/bought/traded stuff here on AZ over the years....

Doesn't appear that any of my information has been hacked - must be some POS using my name. I know similar things have happened before.

I recently played in a onepocket.org tourney and digipool was used for brackets and it had players FR posted. They had me listed with a FR - problem is I don't have one (only play in a handful of one pocket or bank pool tournaments every year) - but there are three other Dustin Millers with FR in Pennsylvania, Brithish Columbia, and Louisianna - so there certainly are other Dustin Miller pool players out there....

Kind of unrelated, but FWIW, I'm done selling anything on here. My last two sales were disasterous (couple Mezz CF shafts/new Predator cue) - second day shipping with tracking/signature confirmation lost by USPS for weeks, gave both guys refunds (both ended up being delivered - one supposedly moved so whoever signed for it supposedly not him, the other guy says he's going to pay, but haven't seen a nickel, etc.....) not going to even waste my time with it. Not to mention all the other flakes.

Sorry to hear about this and I'm glad the OP put it out there.

If you are solicited by a Dustin Miller it's certainly not me and probably a POS scammer.

Don't know what else to say.

I stopped shipping cue stuff USPS about 3 or 4 years ago - the post office never has any idea where packages are located. I also will no longer buy any cues if the seller insists on the USPS. My last 2 purchases were lost for a week by the post office - cues! They come to within an hour of here and wind up 6 hours from here sitting in a truck or another PO for several days!!

The scams keep getting better … those guys are good. Too good

A clever software person could use AI to make it almost impossible for a spammer/scammer to arrive in your e-mail box or cell phone text directory.

Instead, it is much more likely that spammers/scammers will use AI to prevent anyone from being able to filter out all spam/scams.

how do you get scammed without sending money off to someone on the internet you havent vetted who they are where they live, and talked to them on the phone.

That just happened to me. Didn't want to name names, but perhaps I should. Was afraid I may have been mistaken, but Jay Helfert s first name isn't Dennis is it?? Lol. How do these jokers get our email addresses???

first only use pay pal and not friends and family. thats a scam as its cheating paypal and either of you deserve to lose your money.
and pay with a credit card only. then you can cancel the sale if your product doesn't arrive.

also get their real name, phone number and physical address and google them to make sure it all fits. and google earth their abode.
talk to them on the phone to get info and an idea of who you are dealing with.
then make your decision.

fools rush in. then come here crying how they got taken.

It's a shame that society now considers a trusting person as foolish. Speaks volumes about society moreso than the person. Common sense abides in most, but few have the saavy to cover all their bases right out of the box. Behind every person who now knows how, lies a fool who got ganked at one time or another. Lol. Perpetuating that pessimistic viewpoint.
Nuff said.

Here is the thread. It looks to me like some scammer(s) are sitting around watching AZB's for sale section, and if a potential buyer says they are interested, emails them. IDK how they get the email.

If you look at the time stamps, the whole thing took less than 17 minutes for them to send emails, and for the buyer to question the seller if the emails were legit from the seller.
The email I received came less than 5 minutes after I sent a PM inquiring about a for sale item in here.
Wtf??

Exact problem I've had. I ask for UPS or FedEx sign req now. USPS. What a joke. That place sure has gone in the shitter over the years.
I've received package updates telling me my package left a certain city B4 it even got to that city!! Gotta Luv it. Lol.

USPS tracking to my limited knowledge is not actually tracking during its whole trip, but rather an estimate of where USPS thinks the package is. They don’t actually scan it every update in the tracking.

FedEx and UPS on the other hand scan it at every location and the tracking is legit.

Using pirateship, anyone can ship UPS for less than USPS.

Here in Fl. When a package is sometimes 30 minutes from your home - the next USPS tracking scan shows it 2 or 3 hours away at a different sorting location. This is my experience in real time - even as I wait a package today. They send stuff AWAY from the delivery location for several days - their sorting mechanisms are a disaster or else they are flooded with human error.

I don’t think they really scan. So it’s the computer “guessing” it’s at location xyz. Check google I think there are hundreds of posts about this in various parts of the internet. I have not checked in a few years.

Great System that have at USPS - funny how a company for profit can figure out how a system should actually work and our govt. always seems to do the opposite - all about quality of employees and vendor choices.
