schmelke cue

Both my Schmelke sp shafts warped in a lil over a year. I'd buy a Players or a J&J before i bought another one.
If you leave your $$$$ bicycle out in the rain, it'll rust. If you leave your cues in the trunk of your car, in your damp garage "pool room" and/or leaning "up against the wall, motherf**ker" they'll warp.

Nothing wrong with Players or a J&J except that despite the way they "coat" their shafts to seal out the moisture, they aren't particularly well playing shafts made of AAA maple.

My cue was kept in a good case at all times. Never left outside. Bad wood/curing. Because i was past the 1yr(barely) warranty date they basically told me to pound sand. I had a Players a fews back and after at least 10yrs(i ws second/third owner) it was still DEAD straight. Both the Players and the JJ had very nice STRAIGHT shafts. Schmelke has trouble even putting in the joint pin correctly. I used to tout them to friends but no more.

Since you brought back a years old thread and mention four figure bikes, I'll derail here and say they will not rust in the rain.
Chains are hard chromed, ti-ni coated and/or lubed. No other ferrous metals.

If you paid "$$$$" for a Huffy, you should have at least had them put a saddle on the post. :ROFLMAO:

I stand "bitch-slapped" ... congrats!!!

Btw, I was trying to use that as an analogy. I'm not a biker [Outlaw, Hell's Angel, Mongol, etc] nor an avid/professional 24 year old cyclist.

Since the Schmelke family is in the Cuemaker's Hall of Fame, I think it is reasonable to assume that 100% [as "implied" in the start to this sub-thread] of their product is NOT crap.

No shit, Sherlock ... !

i have the same cue plus others that have sat in my car through summers in vegas 110 degress. and winters in the north below zero. for 50 years. yes 50 years. and in one of those cheap soft vinyl cases.
no shaft has ever warped from the car trunk or back seat. as good dried wood is stable.
if your shaft warps you got bad wood or wood that didnt cure, called green wood.

That's why I wonder why Made in China cues still gets a bad rap. If they're made by a reputable company with great quality control, does it matter what country it's made in?

I would prefer to buy US-made but i'm not going to buy it if its shitty quality. With me its more about the way the country is run than a co's QC. Look, i just bought a PlayersHXT sneaky so i still send some $ China's way but i'd rather not. BTW, the cue is FLAWLESS. Way nicer than anything Schmelke is making.

I have a 13 year old Lucasi that is still straight and the finish looks like new.
The Chinese can and do make very good cues at a reasonable price.
I also have a Schmelke and a Troy Downey both American made.
And I still prefer the Lucasi over both of them playability wise.

It doesn't, but in America the custom cue world has created a sort of high school mentality towards cues.

Every Chinese sneaky I've used is of remarkable quality.

A wood to wood joint that is truly seamless , uv finish that is beautiful years down the road and dead straight stiff maple years down the road no matter how much use,
The durability is just as impressive
