Schmelke cues, anybody play with one?

The Schmelke family of cuemakers were recently inducted into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame for their outstanding contributions to the cuemaking art and industry. I currently play with a Schmelke SP02, that I've had for a year and a half. It weighs 20 oz., features a 3/8-10 wood to wood joint, a standard hard rock maple shaft, and an elforyn ferrule with a Tiger Dynamite layered tip. It is by far the best cue I've used in all my years playing pool.

The hit and feel of this cue is absolutely amazing. I also like the fact that these cues are inexpensive, and made in the USA. However, I don't hear much talk or raving about these cues in general, and just wanted to get some opinions from people who have personally played with one. Of all the players I know, there's only one other I know of that owns a Schmelke, and he also says it's one of his top favorite cues. Has anyone here ever played with a Schmelke cue, and if so, what was the feedback?

I bought two sneaky's a couple of years ago. I did have them wrapped and they built them after I ordered them so they took about three weeks to arrive. The cues looked great and played even better. They have a solid but soft hit.

Just got my second Schmelke a few weeks ago actually.

Originally wanted try a new configuration, so I started off with a simple wrapless 60-inch sneaky. It played great, but met with an unfortunate fall in the garage. The small crack that resulted had no effect on the hit, but considering Schmelke's great pricing, I saw it as a good opportunity to order something slightly fancier.

Received the second cue a few weeks ago, threw on a milk dud, and now it's my main player.

Great cue.

Their shafts that I have seen and played with suck. Basic at best.
I have a 3x8 10 pin on a butt and never had any issues with that at all.

I don't see anyone playing with them really.

I've got a pretty good wingspan myself. Whenever I would grab a standard size cue, my ring finger was always, ALWAYS around the bumper.

I picked up a 60" Schmelke on the 'bay a few weeks ago for a little over $100. Sneaky with a 5/16x14 stainless steel joint.

Lovin' the feel of it.

Mickey <--- Endorses Schmelke cues now...

I have owned 3 or 4 of them over the years and I was very happy with them. All of mine had the flat laminated shafts though. I had an issue with one of my shafts and they went out of their way to make it right as quick as possible. Great people and great customer service.
