Schmelke information

You know Schmeke made Titlist-style Hoppe blanks for Brunswick in the 70's and 80's right and then took over production of the cue before it was farmed out to ADAM but still using Schmelke-made blanks.

These butts, both mine and Troublouss are 100% Wisconsin-made Schmelke cues

I know the joint sucks, I hate it too, but I really don't understand why Schmelke gets shit on the way they do...
Their maple shafts suck is one reason. I bought a custom sneaky in '16. BOTH shafts warped in a little over ONE year. Because i was outside their 1yr policy they basically told me to pound sand. Still played ok but i was hot at their response so i sold it off a couple days later. And i totally agree on that pipefitter joint, it sucks.

Seriously, if Proficient could create a separate turn-key business on just replacing Schmelke and Dufferin joints at a fixed cost they could all buy vacation homes!

I bought 2 of their cues about 2 years ago. Both really bad quality. The first one I bought stock from one of their distributors, the cheapest model I think it was $85 or so. The joint pin was off a mile. It only rolled straight with the OEM shaft, and barely at that. When I tried it with another shaft, the shaft flipped like a whale. It was the super old school way of making a cue with the shaft only working on one butt I suppose.

The second was a custom order (I ordered both at the same time). This one I wanted a 30" butt to pair with my 30" predator shaft. This was also a simple model, no wrap, no rings, about $130 total due to the custom length. The joint pin was good this time. But the forearm necked down a lot right in front of the joint, and the stain color looked like they used black at first by mistake in one area, rubbed it off, and then put the red I wanted on top.

The finish on both didn't look so good. Like a cheap car finish where they didn't really polish it.

I had ordered the both to be cheap butts to use with my Predator shafts. I still use the 30" long custom one, and keep it in my car (which was why I ordered it).

Are they worth the price new, yes, as long as it rolls straight at the joint. But the quality on my 2 was worse than a K-mart cue.

YMMV, and I know most people have received good cues.
