Please take a look at this Schon, it belongs to a friend of mine, I think he purchased it in the early 90's, and idea what model it is?

It has some of the design features of a couple CX models, different materials, early 90's, rare but not that valuable
$500

Rare and not that valuable really do not go together. Should be more than 500 if its early 90's regardless. The cues were better then. If it's rare then someone who collects Schon's might really want this. Nice stick!

I own some rare cues that would not sell for $100

Don't know what model that is but I like that design, and the diamonds look to be ivory from the close up of the points.

I don't know but that is a really nice looking Schon, love the multi-wood design on that one.

Are the points sharp? Because the inlays appear to have sharp points.

Looks like a CX-series. I'd contact Cuestix and send them a pic. Schon can id it but they want $20 to do it.

...and they'll do it when they have a chance, in a few weeks or something like that.

I have an early 90's Schon. Cuestix couldn't identify anything that old, but that was back then.

Check the thread "Show Us Your Schon" or something like that. It's a pretty food resource
with a bunch of links to other Schon collectors and a tone of Schon photos. Though that thread
may be somewhat outdated and links not working but you may find some help there.

Schon was finally able to give me some identifying information before they started to charge for the service.
It took them a couple of months. They told me the woods, the MSRP and ;what it would cost now, stuff like that
and a model number.

When I had the chance to, I spoke with Evan Clark about my cue. He told me that he built mine
and one thing he did quite a bit was build hybrids of several different model numbers so keep that
in mind as you find photos and magazine ads.

This is one of the better old Schon's I have seen. It looks to be in good condition. I don't recognize the model. I used to swear by them in the 80s and mid 90s. They have a different cue maker at the lathe today. It is not the same as the old schons. What you have can be IDed by Schon themselves by emailing the picture to sales@schoncues.com. I would hold onto that one if I were you. I kick myself that I sold most of my old cues to include my Schons.

That's definitely an early-mid '90's CX model (or hybrid as suggested by Celophanewrap), and is very closely related to the CX17 model.

Here are a couple pictures of my own CX17 for reference. I bought mine somewhere around '94 or '95, don't recall exactly.

I'm curious to know what yours is - good luck with the hunt.
