Schon cue question

Common knowledge that Schon cue shafts tighten up on the last turn or so..
my question is why or how? Is it a function of the shaft/piloted thread? Or is it
a function of the joint pin? Or the joint socket? Curious because mine doesn't tighten up like it used to and I wonder what has worn down...I like that tight feeling.

Any insight?

It was the pilot, and yes they do 'wear in' over time.

Thank you for the info. Guess if I replace the shaft I will get the tight fit back...but lose the feel of this
seasoned old wood...or have Schon replace the shaft insert...trivial point, I know...but I always smiled at that Schon 'trademark feature.'

Does it play any different then it did before you noticed? Probably not, and if not, then don't worry about it.

Nope. Plays the same. Just a psycho thing...those tight last turns said 'OK...time to buckle down and start shooting pool...' Sort of like the opening bell at the NYSE.
