Even though this is not a CNC vs spliced argument, I liken this thread to a Meucci Originals vs script logo Meucci discussion. Over the years, I would hope that any cuemaker will make alterations in their product and they believe their current product is better than their older stuff. They would be stupid to change if that were not the case. Changes in materials and their availability, adhesives, wood stabilizers, and engineering technology, etc. have changed the industry.
I would hope that Evan would consider his current cues superior in construction and playability than the early Schons, just like Bob, I assume, considers his current cues to be superior to those he made when at Schon.
Hit of a cue is subjective. Value of a cue is determined by the market, and apparently the market likes the older spliced cues better than the current stuff, just like the market likes the Meucci Originals better than the script logo, and the market likes the B, C, and D series McDermotts better than new ones. Rarity I think plays big into this.
