seems like the new Schon cue i recently bought (CX-02) deflects a whole lot more than my Jacoby, Chad Carter, or Nova. do you posters out there with Schons, do you think your Schon has more deflection than other cues you have owned?
i was shooting the Earl Forced Follow Shot thats been discussed on here lately with the Schon and i just kept over-squirting and missing the shot. the next night i pulled out my Jacoby and made it the very first try.
thoughts?

From my experience, the Schon shaft (compared to the Universal LS and the Mcdermott shaft) is stiffer and does tend to deflect more, especially on softer strokes. I had my Schon shaft turned down to 12.5mm and use a Moori Med tip, and it's still a little stiffer than the two mentioned above. I've tried the "Earl Forced Follow shot" and have had good results.
Watch the video again. What Earl is teaching is not shaft deflection, but proper stroke fundamentals. First Earl checks his allignment, then bridge, then WHAMO, he does it. Next time he misses, because he reverted back to his old bridge. But nonetheless, it boils down to fundamentals of stroke. The better you are at the fundamentals, the quicker you can adjust to different shafts/equipment.
Good pool is poetic, it has a rhythm. Watch Buddy Hall shoot, his stroke has a tempo that can be applied to any shaft/tip combo. Do you honestly think his focus is on his sticks deflection? Be careful, being an equipment junkie will slow down your progress.
My advice, (and I learned this the hard way) is to stick one shaft and master the fundamentals of the game. Your focus should be on shot, not how cool the stick is. Until you realize this, you will always be a "banger". I'm not insulting you, but at one time we were all bangers. Some nights, I still am. I revert back to my "banging days" out of bad habit and not focusing on fundamentals.
Good Luck,
Mike
