Schon Diameter

have a quick question for those of you out there with Schon cues. is the handle/butt diameter of a Schon cue considered thick? or medium?

compared to a Cuetec cue, is the handle diameter more or less? or about the same?

i had a Joss cue once, and it was way too thick, so i traded it back in and got a Pechauer.

thanks for any help!

Schon cues are a little thinner than standard. Without looking anything up, I seem to remember the numbers 1.3 for standard and 1.25 for a schon...perhaps someone else can shed some light on these figures, I do not have time to look anything up right now. ;)

As far as comparing it to a Cuetec, I have no idea how they are sized. Falcons are 1.3; hope that helps.

Schon is typically a little on the slimer side.

However...depending on the cue and the wood, they may come out thicker or thinner. I have had three different Schon cues in my life and they were all different thicknesses. The last one was noticably thicker than any other Schon cue I have ever held.

I emailed Evan and asked him why the cue I had seemed thicker than the others and he said that the thickness may vary depending on what weight he is looking for.

I am not sure of all the "details" of what determines thickness, but I would imagine wood type and number of inlays and such will have an effect.

1.23 and 1.24 for the schons
1.3 joss
1.24 and 1.23 for the carolinas

Also have a falcon at 1.25 and a jacoby at 1.25

Nice! Maybe if we can get enough people to post what they know we could make a nice table up for reference.

Who did the lizard wraps on your Schon cues? They look great!

I have an STL17 and I just put a dial caliper on it.

front of wrap = 1.090

back of wrap = 1.200

this cue feels slightly slim, but right in line with most of my Schons.
