Does anyone know what year the first Schon Elite was produced? I own a Schon Elite #1 and can't find that information anywhere. Schon wants $20 to tell me. Nuts to that.

$20 well spent!

Schon gets so many requests to ID cues it would require someone dedicated to it full time on staff if they did it for free. You should be happy they even offer the service period.

Thats crap, people who want help identifying a cue are the very customers that they should try to help. Used to be fairly easy, email Evan with a picture and he'd tell you.

Or they could just have all that info on their website. When a new line comes out update it.
Or you could screw your customers and probably lose a future sale

This is true. I have been looking at a couple of new Schons, but I have decided instead to go with a Segen. Much, much, much more customer friendly

I have to agree with you on this one, there are a lot of Schon's out there, and a lot of
one-off two-off models, there is no way they could handle all the ID without a dedicated employee.
This Elite cue should easy to ID, but I can never understand why people care so much
about the ID of a Schon elite, or the age, what difference does it make.
The cue is a Schon and it is an elite model, what more is there?

I ordered a cue from John at Schon last year. Couldn't have been nicer and stayed in touch. I thought the customer service was excellent and so is the cue.

Why would anyone expect Schon to ID cues for free for someone who purchased it on the secondary market or is looking to buy it on the secondary market? John is running a business with few employees to offer a quality product at a reasonable value. If you were the original owner, you would know what you have. Hence, Schon had a economic benefit and I'm sure if you purchased the cue originally, John would be happy to help you out. I've been to his house and purchased one of his personal house cues, he's a great guy and I think anyone who buys a Schon is buying the best cue for the money that is attainable. Don't get me wrong, not disrespecting anyone but a STL1, is IMHO the best playing cue for the money. Tom

Yeah, they should gather all the info the and hire a web site company to put it all together in a specific pinpoint searchable database. Or do it themselves. Either way its BIG $ and/or tons of hours.

Just one question.. Who's gonna pay for it?
