Schon or Jackson

I am looking to buy either a schon or Jackson cue and would like some opinions on the play of both. I am looking for a cue with a stiff hit and low deflection. I am not cocerned with looks, only playability. I will be purchasing either a Schon STL1 or a plain curly maple Jackson. The Jackson cue is slightly less in price.

In the future if I decide to go with a Predator shaft I want to be able to just purchase the shaft and go. I do not want to have to buy a partial shaft and have it fitted by a cue maker. I know this can be done with the Schon, but does anyone know if I can do it with the jackson cue?

Any opinons or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you really don't care about appearance, and you like Predator, why not buy a Predator sneaky pete?

Also, as for getting a 314 shaft for your cue...I have two custom made 314s both from the respective manufactures with matching joint rings.

Jackson uses a funny 5/16-14 joint...the Schon will fit the Predator easier.

Go with the Schon or as that guy recommended, the steel jointed new Predator 8 point sneaky looks HOT!

I've never played with a Jackson. I play with a Schon and I like it.

I have hit a few balls with both the Schon and Jackson and think I like both. I just want to have the option to go with a predator shaft easily without having the joint matched up like a custom cue. I have had predator shafts matched up to custom cues in the past, but now want to be able to pick up a new shaft (Original or predator) anytime without having to send the cue to the maker.

Thanks for all the comments!

Looks like a good price to pay for a schon stl1 is $420 plus shipping. I would prefer the stl 3 for another 25 dollars $445.

cue question

i have played with both and either one will serve you fine.schon is definetly more populer and you can always pickup a predater shaft for it.see them all the time in the pool room.

opinion

if ya wanna know somthing funny and i can't wait for the band wagon to get filled up with laughter and b.s comments.but if i was going to spend aprox 400 on a cue.i would buy a dale perry off of e bay and have him give you one of his dpr shafts with it.that shaft plays awsome and i don't care what anyone says.plus it is a different cue than most and the radial pin has a sweet hit.it all depends on what you like.jacksons are sweet also but the shaft problem.i have played with a schon and a predater shaft for years and i think the dpr shaft hit better.but to be honest, all that stuff is in the safe as i play with a blue grass for now.jmo.later.

i play w/ a jackson and am fixing to order a 314. just give them a call and they should take care of your situation 4 you. they will also install the phenolic insert in it.
