Schon R-15 from 1988. Stunning! New Price

Sold!!!

I'm thinning the herd and know I'm going to regret letting this one go. It plays sooooooo good.
Schon R-15 from 1988 with 2 shafts and joint protectors. Lot's of ivory including ivory ferrels. Green veneers and lines on butt. Cue is straight all the way around and has a newish Sniper tip on the playing shaft. I believe it's a Triangle on the spare shaft. W/ playing shaft cue weights 19.25 oz and 19 oz with the spare shaft. The cue has some normal wear for 20 years. Some very light scratches on the ferrel and a couple of very minor dings on the forearm. Light blueing but nothing major.
This cue really feels silky smooth. Hate to give it up!

Are the shafts original? I bought and sold many Schons in the 1989-1995ish era and I don't think that they were putting the Schon logo on the shafts during that period. Also it would make sense that the butt and the shafts would both have the umlaut (the two dots above the o) or both be without it if the shafts and butt were made at the same time.

The umlaut by the way is the shorter form of "schoen" which means beautiful in German. The germans write the o with two dots to signify the sound which is closest to 'shoo-en' phonetically.

Pretty cue.

The person I bought it from didn't know if they were original and I'm not sure. Both shafts play really well, but the one with the long ferrel is the sh*$%t!

Not original if your time period is right for the cue. That logo started in 94-95 I believe. Does say in the most recent bluebook, but its 5 am and I'm not going to look. Believe 93 was the year they had the schon 13 stamped on the collar of the shaft, and from then on schon stamped on the shafts like these.

Great looking cue btw.

I emailed Evan Clarke about the date on the cue and he said 1988 sounded right. I'm not certain about the shafts.

Maybe the pics are not current, but none of the tips looks like a sniper (sides are too dark and snipers are blue/grayish in color).

It is a nice looking Schon it is ashame that they do not command as much on the secondary market due to the pricing they give dealers unless they are from the R Series with stitched rings ... I just sold two very nice Schons that retailed at 1300.00 each ... The one you have here is a beauty and a older Schon good luck with the sale ... If I were not getting rid of my Metal jointed cues I would be very intersted ...

unless these logos were put on the shafts after reconditioning they are not from 1988. my guess is the butt was made in or after 1990 and is from the SP line. all things considered if the shafts are original, this cue could have been made in the mid 90's. nice cue. i've always liked Schon's.....have an early R-14 myself...

Correct about the tips. About two weeks after I took these pictures the Moori tip popped off. I replaced it with a Sniper. The other tip is the same.

Bump for a great looking cue! I really can't believe your selling this cue to be honest.
