Hey guys I have a question about Schon shafts , I like to experiment with different shafts , I've used Predator and Mcdormotts but I want to know how well Schon Shafts play . ?

I emailed the Schon's website about getting one for my Falcon and wanted to know if a Schon would fit on my Falcon and got no real answer other than " We don't know " which wasn't very helpful so I figured I'd ask my fellow players hear on AZ . Rob

this is the only thing I know about Schon Shafts...

a Joss shaft will fit my Schon cue but my Schon shafts will not fit a Joss cue.

They play really stiff due to the thick taper they have. It's very traditional and pretty much the opposite of the long pro taper that alot of HD shafts use. However, they do play really well as Schon generally uses top notch shaft wood, I would say some of the best out there for semi-production shop IMO. If you like a stiff hit and a more traditional taper, then you can't go wrong w/ a Schon shaft. That being said, the old SCHON 13 shafts ones made before that are some of the best playing shafts out there, but that's just my two cents. I don't think they would build one to fit your Falcon btw, Schon only uses that big pilot that generally works with few cues other than their own. Hope this helps. Cheers, Brett.

It wont fit nipple is too large.

What he said.

I found that out years ago, when I kept my favorite Schon shaft, but sold the butt section to a local player.

Replaced the cue with a nice Joss...and went to slap my Schon shaft on it. Found out, rather quickly, that it wouldn't fit.

Back then...before I really knew much about cues and how to kill them...I took a dremel tool to the brass insert and ground it down enough to fit the Joss.

Makes me shudder to even think of that, now. :D:D

You can always face the pilot off. Schon shafts hit good. I have used a wide range of them new, old, ivory, micarta, and what not, and they have all been superb. Go for it.

I got ahold of Seyberts here in Michigan and they said the Cue Maker would have know problem getting a joint to fit properly on my falcon , I've had work done there before and they do some great work . Thanks for everyones Imput .

The pilot on my Falcon is even smaller than my Joss and way smaller than my Schons

I just made a purpleheart break shaft for the falcon and the pilot is like .450

Schon pilot is the brass thing on the right, much wider than the one on the left made out of phenolic

It's a pretty easy fix to re size the pilot to fit the butt of your falcon, I had to do this same job to my own cue to make the Schon shaft fit my old Mali butt
