Has anyone ever altered ( trimmed down) the piloted joint nipple of a Schon shaft so it fits on other cues like my Joss with a 5/16X 14 thread? I cant join the 2 together because of his flared out nipple. Ed

Had mine done by a cue maker here, he said it was no problem. Turned out just fine. Took a z shaft off a schon and fitted to a joss butt.

Would there be a problem to turn down the nipple to fit a flat face joint?

It would depend on the dapper of the insert. If the pin is longer then it will be a problem
Have the measure the depth befor cutting it down.

it's been done. I had a schon shaft from the bay w/ micarta ferrule that had the pilot turned flat. there was another one recently on the bay with flattened pilot/joint.

No problem with the pilot but to fit a Joss you might have to run a tap in it to fit

the Joss butt. I know on the older ones they are just a little different.
