Anybody worked on a newer Schon lately? Does anyone know if their weight is easily changed with a bolt like many factory cues?

All the Schons I have worked on have standard 3/8-16 threaded bolt with a Allen Head screw that secures the bumper.

Why what have you found different?

Dick,

They usually have a weight bolt in the cue, however they glue them in there -
at least on the one in my avatar which is some years old...

So careful heating of the bolt is needed to get it out.

Its not a weight bolt, its an assembly bolt.

It depends. Some times the weight bolt is also holding the butt section
together, but thats usually when POM is used.
Anyway, I talked to John at Schon and he mentioned that some times
there could come glue on the weight bolt which could make it hard to
get it out.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is what Dick is wondering about..

No, I was just wondering. Some one left a message on my machine last night asking that question. I haven't worked on any Schons lately, new or old and I don't have his cue to look at so I didn't know the answer. I'll call him back and let him know. Thanks fellas.

Hey Craig,

Here's one for ya. I cut 1.6 oz's off the weight bolt in my old Schon SL-8. the remaining part of this weight bolt was still close to 2 3/4 inches long.

That looks nothing like any Schon wght. bolt I've ever seen.
Are you sure you didn't pull that from your Meucci?

Nope, not Meucci, it came from my Schon SL-8. Crazy Huh! My good friend John has it now. He uses it every afternoon to play golf on an ancient 5x10 snooker table.

schon weight bolt

i had the stl-4 it to had a 3/8 16 with flat head slot and the allen head
screw to hold rubber bumper.i wanted to change bolt . i think it was glued
could not get it to turn . sent it back to schon to change . told them not to glue. i use silicone just a little around threads on bolt and in cue.
it will keep it tight with no chatter noise . and if you must change again
it will come loose. i wanted to heat bolt ,but what other glue could you
break down. be carefull it takes very little to crack butt
been there and done that take care john107: anderson sc
