I believe Scooter won some serious money at this years dcc,if so good for him,he sure puts in a hell of a effort, making games and playing himself,SCOOTER HEART GOODMAN!
Neil mentions above that he could very well have been backed. Scooter will bet everything he has and everything he can round up. So he's not just some guy that only bets when he's being backed, he just bets no matter what. I wonder how many times his pocket went from completely empty, to a few 20's, to a good wad of cash
Here's a story from last year's Derby. I happened to be on the upper floor wandering the halls. Scooter was working the halls at that time too, trying to stir up something. I got a email notification that I got a PM from AZB. I stopped and read it and it was a person asking me if I've seen Scooter, what he was up, to and that they were a fan of his. They also asked if I could get a picture of him.
So I pull Scooter aside and told him that someone had wrote me they wanted a picture of him. As I was talking, I was bringing up the email that the fan had sent me. He somehow misunderstood what I was saying, and he, in a serious tone, started telling me that there indeed were people that were fans of his. He was trying to tell me that he was famous. He somehow got the impression that I was surprised that there was a fan wanting his picture. In actuality, my surprise was that someone had went to the trouble to email me telling me what a fan they were of his, and asking me if I could get a photo of him. I tried explaining to him the mix up he was having, but it seemed like it might not be worth the trouble
So I snapped this photo of him. If the fan that was wanting this, I'm sorry, I think I might not have responded to you personally. I thought I posted it before, but maybe not.
It was enjoyable to me to watch him do his thing. If he's around, he will be the center of attention. Not in a bad way, just that he is the one trying to stir something up. I watched SVB completely annihilate him giving him a huge spot of 6 out and the breaks or something (video is on my vimeo site) and as soon has he took that beating, he was out in the hallway trying to round up another game.
He was bust, so he was on the phone selling his proposition to a potential backer. I can only imagine the poor guy on the other end.

He's thinking "Oh god.. it's Scooter in go off mode telling me he's got the nuts, he just needs 3k to take him off"
If he has money in his pocket, he's walking around trying to put it all in action. His hand keeps digging at it while he's trying to get a game. You can tell how that wad of cash in his pocket is itching the hell out him.. he has to get it out of his pocket. It's only home is on a light.
Then if he doesn't have any money in the pocket, the goal then becomes how to get some in it. Enter the phone. A phone is very important tool of his trade.
So it's just a vicious cycle for the Scootman. If there's money in the pocket, it must be put in action, no matter if he might have the worst of it. If it get's empty (which it will), then it needs refilling. Empty, flush, Empty, flush, Empty flush
I don't know him personally, pretty just much seeing him for a week and what I read here. So, my impression is, that he's full blooded gambler, so there's going to be some grey areas exploited and that is expected, so it's up to the people involved to be ready for that. I do hope though, he is for the most part, a stand up guy. I can't say I've read anything too bad about him, so that's a good thing. He also has that demeanor, that he could put a move on you, and you would end up laughing about it after he got done convincing you somehow he was the victim. hehe
People like Scooter, they are working a full time job. They're not a regular pool player sitting around waiting for the nuts, they are constantly working to set something up. It takes a lot of effort to be selling all the time. I think somehow he should be setup somehow, to at least get minimum wage but he would have to be on salary, as he's works a lot of hours.
