Scottish guys at the US Open

Hi Keith,

I met up with my friend Peter (aka 'The Cardman' on this forum) tonight for the first time since he got back from the US Open. Ironically, we met at a brand new club that opened 2 weeks ago in Glasgow, and has immediately become the place to play due to it's tables, staff, attitude to poolplayers and commitment to furthering the game in Scotland.

He managed to score an amazing 4 out of 4 of the favors I asked of him from being at the Open...

1) I needed an Aramith 5-ball (which got lost/pinched/forgotten/or left in a pocket after a few beers on a Saturday night!) Got that!

2) Asked him to get me 'The 99 critical shots in pool' book which is impossible to get in Scotland. Got that too!

3) Asked that, no matter what, he and Pat Holtz (Or Pot Holden - I think Pat's happy with either!) had a great time. Which they did.

4) To get a cueball signed by yourself (for me!) Which he did. Thanks for that, Keith. Made my day. And my week too. Maybe my month, but I'll let you know... Depends how I play, we'll see.

All in all, those guys had a ball (!) and although I couldn't make it this year (I had to take Trish to Amsterdam for a holiday) I'm hoping to make the DCC in Jan 2007 (with Peter, maybe).

Enjoyed watching your matches on Billiards Club TV and I'm sure, as well as you are, that next year will be yours!!!

Hugs to Jen.

Yours in sport.

BS.

Martin.

Martin, I'm glad to hear you got all of the things that you wanted from the U.S. Open this year. I remember signing the cue-ball for The Cardman. He seemed like a real nice guy and looked like he was having fun.

Good luck in the new pool room. I've never been to Scotland, but I'm part Scottish and the other half Irish! My great grandmother was related to Mary, Queen of Scots. Isn't that interesting? :)

Maybe we can hook up in Louisville this January at the Derby. Hope to see you there!

Hi Keith

Thanks for the kind words. I had the time of my life at the Open and want to do it all again - yesterday!

I'm hoping to be at the DCC in 2007 (too much magic stuff on next year to be able to get back to the Open!) so I look forward to meeting up with you and Jen then.

Take care and keep playing well!
