And I back you up.............I have known him for 15+ years and he is a great guy. And I am sure he would play you some goldie!

Drunk, toothless, loudmouth was said in the most affectionate and endearing way possible. He has never been anything but a gentleman to me. I've played him a couple of times in Port Arthur touney.

I'm sure he would play me some, ptm. I've always felt that I only need a 'good reason' to play.

He showed god how to use indise english........lol. Yeah I really doubt that guy would say that to Scotty. He would tear his head off!

Red was the first thing that came to mind when that guy said colorful. I thought it was funny.

That inside english is what allowed me to grind out a few nuggets betting against him.

Scotty and his running mate Charlie Owens are two of the funniest people on the planet. If someone can't get along with either THEY have the problem.

Scotty does live around Dothan, AL and when I talked to him about a week ago he is still recovering from a messed up rotator cup. So he hasn't been shooting at all recently. And if you do know Scotty very well, there isn't enough time or space to write the story about how he was injured.

The reason a lot of people don't know of him is because he is a $$ player way before a tourny player. He is one of, if not the best bar hustler in the country. :)

I am originally from Dothan and Scotty is my friend, but..........

He don't hustle better than " firber,furber,ferber..SP?" and I will lay some odds on that.

Scotty goes in and gets the cash............
Ferber goes in watches, loses for about 2 days and then bust the whole bar and town, I seen him do it in Enterprise, Ala. for about 2 weeks.

Jeff Ferber & Scotty used to run together ......... Scotty plays a ball better for big money :)

Now Sizl you boys wouldn't be hustling all those Army boys the first of the month now would you? Good old Enterprize the only town that has a statue dedicated to an insect. Or was that Ozark? Jake

Scotty Townsend

Scotty jumping off the Huey P. Long bridge? Scotty lifting the back end of a car off the ground? Scotty running with the Great "Painter" for 15 yrs and living through it? Scotty now drinking CC instead of Black Jack????????? Nah,,,, I don't believe it either. But then he didn't get any of my money doing any of it.

I have heard stories about Ferber....I heard one time he beat a guy 3 times before he realized it was the same dude! Just changed his appearance and his stroke and the guy didn't realize it was Ferber ( I ain't real sure how to spell his name either )....His a great Hustler.

That would be the same Enterprise, and that would be the "boll weevil" that they have a statue of.

Jake, did you used to play out of Starcade?

Yeah I played back then also, started playing in their 8-ball tournaments in '87. I go in ther to talk to Andy Robin and Peggy once in a while. B

We do their tables. Been doing them for since the moved to the back side. They use to have Johnny Archer, Scotty, Tommy Kennedy....and a lotta of great players every year for their tourneys. Great people Andy, Peggy, and Robin. They run a great place and Tournies too. They are having their 1000 added tourny in a few months.........followed by a 7200 added one sponsered by the Fair Grounds and at the Fairgrounds, 100 entry.

No, that was before I started playing pool, back in 64,65 when I was stationed at Ft. Rucker (try typing that everyday without geting the F & T reversed), and I would hear about the guys going into town and losing what they won in the day room.

Wow sounds great , I'll have to try and make it this time. Seems like something always comes up at the last minute. So what's the deal at the fair grounds? I know I'll have to go to that one. B

Anyone know what happened to Jimmy King? I talked to Scotty this weekend. He and Tyler from Monroe played scotch doubles at the Rack in Jackson, MS Sat.-Sun. Scotty said he didn't know where he is now. Any help? thx.

I went with Tommy K. to the Emerald Coast Open a couple of times.

That area is in need of a a decent room badly. My brother lives around Crestview and wins most of the bar table tournaments in the surrounding areas. We have been looking at property around there for about six months to build or open a room. I have 20 Gold Crown 4's in storage here in the Central part of the state that I am going to put somewhere. It may be there or here in the Orlando Metro area. I build nice rooms and one has even made the cover of Pool & Billliard.

That is a growing area of the panhandle and reminds me of Orlando 25 yrs ago.

A friend of mine says he say Jimmy four or five months ago and he was doing real good. I'll find out more when I talk to him tonight. B
