What's the best method or how do you work a scratch out of a ferrule?

It will probably need to be sanded out on a lathe, if it can be sanded out. If it is too deep it will require ferrule replacement.

besides what was already said.......remember when you sand on something esp. if its spinning on a lathe, you should go back and sand with the grain w/o spinning with the same grit b/f stepping up
