I talked with Timi the other day and here is some stuff that I wish every AZer to know.
Tim and Mike do all the work on all the cues that come out of the shop period. I know Mike has done al the blank work since the 80's.
Tim's friend Bob comes in sometimes and answers the phone and a helper basicly moves wood around the shop.
Why anyone would try to make out like Tim's cues are anything but what they are is beyond me. He is one of a few truely great cue makers and a really good guy that sincerely goes out of his way to be nice to alot of people and promote his love of this sport!
If you made some of the best cues ever made you wouldn't like anyone saying that you had other people building them for you Not very nice and definately not true!
Tim Scruggs cues is a two man Timi and Mike!
I WON'T HOLD MY BREATH WAITING FOR ANY ONE TO APPOLOGISE!!!!
Here is my just delivered Scruggs Nuttin fancy but man is it purdy:):):)

"You can't handle the truth."

Love your message and your cue! I've known Tim since way back when he worked out of that old converted cinder block storage building. He's always made his own cues and he's a very accomodating and pleasant person to work with. I don't understand what some people will say in spite of the truth. Anyhow, nice cue. Tim made one for me along the same lines in 1984 - just add 4 veneered windows in the butt sleeve.

...

I have never hit with a scruggs, do have one coming though, should be here this week. I feel the same though as to comments etc. that were made, I voiced my opinion in the same direction you went, Sure those new cues play lights out if that is the intention of it!!

Is your post related to the posts in the Phantom thread?

I am not sure if your post is directed at the Phantom thread comments. I do not believe anything was said that was negative towards Scrugss. I think the main comments that could be construed negatively were directed towards the dealer who chose to advertise on this board. There is a distinct difference between that dealer's choice of advertising strategies and negative comments about the cue.

If this post was not about the Phantom and was about criticism of TS/MC in general then no big deal. Aesthetically- there are cues out there by makers that people just do not feel are attractive. Cue appreciation is in the eye of the buyer. However, I do not think everyone on the board is required to fawn over an advertisement just because it was made by a particular cuemaker. People did not like the word "Phantom" on the cue. The dealer had a pretty serious buildup for this cue and solicited comments by virtue of his marketing choices.

I have emailed TS/MC and they have been nothing but gentlemen.

Going on vacation

Comments were made about the number of people that work in Timi's shop and building the cues and the comments were not correct and were not appreciated by everybody that knows better including the cue maker himself!
Thanks for the kind words,

Reminds me of a stupid post I read somewhere where the person questioned the price of Southwest cues and said something to the effect that their factory could simply produce more and probably made other cues for other people. What a JOKE!!
