Scruggs SP. Refinish or sell?

I have a Scruggs SP that I purchased new from him in ~1999 or 2000. It really needs a re-finish, and being in phoenix, Brain Mordt is the natural choice to do the work.

What would this guy be worth before/after a refinish? 1 shaft, don't have exact weights or shaft size. Cue has been well played and is showing its age, but nothing BCM cant fix.

I don't think you would gain any cash in your pocket if you had it refinished, although it might sell easier and appeal to more people. It does not look abused, just well played, which is what many people like for a "hustler" cue...it doesn't draw too much attention.

If straight, and the shaft is close to 13mm, I would guess it would sell for $500-600 as is. After refinish, probably $600-700.

If you want to keep it, then refinish it. If you want to sell it then don't. You will pay more for the refinish than what you will gain back in price on something like that.

Ill get it weighed, measured, better pics (these hide some of the yellowing in the laquor) and some vids of it rolling together and apart and post it up in the next couple of days. Im pretty sure I have the original receipt lying around somewhere too.

I wouldn't worry too much about searching for the original receipt. Although a nice player, I wouldn't think that makes much difference with this cue.
Scruggs are popular enough that in the 500.00 to 700.00 range for this cue it should do well.

It won't make any difference at all...everyone knows what the value of a Scruggs sneaky is.

Just add the specs and price right to what you got. You can do a search and see what typical asking prices have been lately.

As others have noted it wouldn't matter one way or another.

Three or four years ago you might have been able to get 6-800 out of it, today probably going to be more like 450-650 depending on how patient you are. Shaft dia matters too of course.
