Search for Billiards patents on Google

Being bored (having recently injured my hand and being therefore unable to fill my free time with actually playing Pool) I noticed today that Google has added Patents to it's many search services, complete with diagrams and text.

Just use this link to search for "Billiards", or use that little drop-down list on the main Google home page and select Patents.

I think someone needs to send this one from 1897 to Mr. Strickland, it could be just the thing he's been looking for.

ps the patent for black lighted poolballs is dated 1970's and not 2000's like i thought... the hipies had to play something once they where high on lsd :rolleyes:
 
That reminds me, I remember seeing something about a billiard golf game, where the tables were shaped like a mini-golf (goofy golf?) course, with sand traps and the whole gamut. I can't seem to find the links anymore. Does anyone remember this?

It is similar to this link, but a little higher end and designed to be played inside.

That's a great idea. I've seen people on Ebay charging a lot of money to basically just download a Patent image of something cool looking, print it on nice paper and put it in a cheap frame.

The first such system I saw like this was one IBM put up several years ago. It had a bit more detail for engineers for searching, but the Google one is fast and easy to use.
 
I couple months ago I spent many hours searching through different billiard patents. Definitely a lot of interesting stuff out there and many not so interesting stuff.

There was a place in Denver, Celebrety Bowl that had a minature golf course, 18 holes that were really 18 different size and shaped pool tables. You played with a cue stick a a cue ball. It was quite different and fun. I'm not sure if it is still there.
