Anyone notice that little people can still have killer breaks. I was watching a match and noticed that this guy Jeff de Luna
has a KILLER break for a small guy. Also, Xiao-Ting Pan has a tremendous break as well.

Who do yo guys think has the biggest break out of the small players and what is their secret?

I dont think Xiao Ting has a real powerful break- It's damn good and she controls the CB as well as anyone but it's not as hard as GYK or Sarah Rousey. Sarah is pretty tiny and should have been in your poll IMHO.

Naw, you gotta pic or vid?

Nope, but I've seen it...it's sick! I think you'd be amazed at how bad-@ss a lot of the pros can break, they just don't; they're backing off the power to bring up the consistancy...

I've posted this before, but pound-for-pound, Santos probably has the hardest break out there.

If you take the ratio of a player's maximum breaking velocity over his weight (call it the V2W index ;)), then I believe Santos would have the highest number...probably close to 0.28 (mph/lbs...screw the metric system :p ), considering he can probably reach 28mph on his break and that Santos doesn't seem to weigh much more than 100lbs. All the other top breakers would probably have a V2W index of about 0.25 or lower.

For example, if Hillbilly's max velocity is 35mph and he weighs in at about 150lbs or so, then his V2W index would be only 0.233. I think right behind Santos in the V2W index would be Jeff De Luna. Jeff seems to break in the low 30s (let's say 32mph), but he probably weighs about 130lbs or so, which would make his V2W number be about 0.246.

Just thought the velocity-to-weight ratio would be an interesting metric to gauge breaking power efficiency.

Come to think of it, I wonder how much Landon Shuffet weighs? I saw him practicing on BCN hitting a few balls around, and that kid has a monster break for a little guy. If he weighs in at about 80lbs or so (don't know if that number is accurate at all), then he needs only to break at about 23mph to have a higher V2W than Santos.

Xiao-ting's control on her break is pretty impressive. Her cue is almost lifted at a 45 degree angle right before she releases.

The guy who has the biggest break around here is Eddie Mataya, (pronounced Muhtayuh, not Muhtieyuh) who learned from Santos. He must weigh less than 100 pounds, but man, can he crack 'em! It is thunderous!

I have told Atwell and Stan T. when they asked me who had the best break, and one of them asked Eddie for breaking tips!

Yeah I played with him a couple weeks ago. He hit the cue ball so hard, it jumped up and almost hit the lights!! It then fell flat in the middle of the table. Killer break from a guy that weighs about 120 pounds.

D@mn! I'd have to break at ~45mph to have the same v2w as santos.

Here are a few that are not in your poll

This is interesting. So breaking is not at all about speed then.

Exactly, this is what i love about her break, its unique to break like that i think. I know i can't do it as i would either miscue or fly the cueball off the table:D The secrets to a Powerful break Colin explains it all in his video on CueTv.

After watching Jeff Deluna break, on the video's on YouTube, I'd have to say he has one of the most powerful yet controlled breaks around. I mean he was just crushing the racks and controlling the CB like it was nothing.

And yes Size doesnt matter. Sarah Rousey is proof of that!
