This is what the gears of my Logan lathe looked like when I got it.

This is today's pic.
After taking all the gears out ( God forbid I lost any gib ), handbrushing them, jetwash and of course, oiling.

Too long. :D
I had to take some parts to a mechanic friend who has a steam cleaning machine. It takes about two hours for that thing to get hot. He was always busy so I had to wait and wait.
I bought a tumbler to clean the small parts. Taking the gear box out is an adventure by itself. Did it by myself too. :eek:

Thank god that you have a friend with the cleaning machine. How much money did you save...how much time did you save?....ALOT! My friend, that's the way to save on resources. Nice work.

Nice work man, that would attest to how patient you are dude. Btw, the gears seem to be a 0.0010" smaller now. Have you checked? That would be a lot of slack and power loss :D

OMG, I'm gonna spray the gears with Krylon to get them back to specs. :D
It was a lot of work. Boy, those metalworkers are pigs. :D
Coolant, metal chips and grease are not pretty. :rolleyes:
