I saw this video pop up on my recommended timeline on YouTube & I have 2 questions:

1. Why would you use an aluminium ferrule?

2. Surely for the love of all that's holy a tip is never ever going to stick to aluminium whatsoever, the same as it would adhere to wood?

Well..,

I'm not sure what to say? It looks cool I think?

I cant imagine using on under a Diamond Lighting System the reflection has got to be horrible?

If glue sticks to ivory it would probably stick to aluminum?

What the hell, if he'll make me one for a reasonable cost I'll try it just for kicks!

Brass ferrules have won a lot of snooker tournaments....
...and a steel ferrule has won 10 world snooker titles.

pt...uses fiber ferrules frequently

For a pool cue, it doesn't make much sense unless it's for a jump cue maybe. The tip will stick to aluminium no problems. Modern adhesives are great.

Brass has been used for snooker cues, but again, a full 1 inch metal ferrule at pool size diameters would not be fun to play with. I would be interested to know how much it weighs compared to other ferrule materials of the same dimension.

I suppose there's no harm in trying new things though. Cheers.

1. Masse cue (Snooker was already mentioned, and the cue in the video was obviously too large in diameter to be a Snooker cue.)

2. Yes, with modern adhesives you can stick almost anything to almost anything. Aluminum and leather? I think not a problem.

Comments on the video said it was for a jump cue so it wouldn't be distracting. He also said that he used a big tenon so he reduced a ton of weight from the ferrule

Aluminum is about 33% heavier than ivory...
...but brass is over 3 times as heavy as aluminum.

I'll stick to Micarta and it's relatives....very light, very strong.
