Well I'm sitting here trying to get my tired, sore butt off this chair to finish loading my moving truck. Everything is going fine, but maybe those minimalists have something there?:D We settled on the house in PA yesterday with no problems. Fedex settlements are the way to go!

I'm kinda torn leaving here. We made a ton of new friends over the last 5 years, but we always call PA home. Our moving is as much a business thing as a "we miss home" thing. The Realty market is slowing here, along with CRAZY taxes and insurance premiums. So we rented our beach home to some good friends, and away we go.....again.

Sadly, my table will be staying here sold to our friends. The new place has room, but truthfully, I don't feel like breaking this table down and moving it. Also my most excellent wife said I can get a new Diamond for the new place. :D

The best thing, from a pool playing stand point, that happened having my table here is I finally worked out my lifelong misalignment problems. I have quit the game more than once over this problem, but with the help of the AZ forum, and some determination, my game is stronger today than it ever has been. psssst....don't tell everyone up north! ;) To everyone considering an instructor out there, do it. It took me forever to get here on my Ego filled own, a good teacher would have fixed this years ago.

OK, time to get to work. I'll see you all in a few days. I can't wait to get back to all my old haunts.

later, Gerry

Congradulations! The four seasons are wonderful. A little snow never hurt anybody and you could be close to VF and the Expo. Hope to meet you sometime and if ya ain't to far! I would gladly help you break in that new Diamond table!:D hint, hint!!!

see you at drexeline!!

Bob Maidhof has a room to die for. Winner of BD best renovated room 2006and he has not stopped since. New simonis last month, new rarely viewed memorbilla throughout room thanks to Dan Janes. The room is worth going to just, to see what a first class pool room can be. Fresh brewed Coffee 5o cents , wow great hot dogs , homemade salads, he even buys pizza's from the best shop in the area to resell. No cutting corners with this man. He tells his employees ,make the sandwich as you would like it to be. This guy is the best person for our sport and if there was a award for this he should receive it. Sponser of in-house and Joss, Blaze, and straight pool tournaments
which brings some of the top players here. Jimmy Caras was his mentor and Friend. Bob had him and Willie match up for a last time in a Ninety's exhibition, If I sound proud of Drexeline ,I am guilty. Thanks Bob and please post what great rooms you all go to. I am going to start a thread with this topic . Yes I Realize now I should have done so already.

Hey Gerry, where ya movin to? The previous poster is right, Drexeline is the best pool room in the area IMO. I am bit biased considering I work there but over the last couple years Bob has really made the room look fantastic with new Brunswick lights over the tables and TONS of awesome memorabilia lining all the walls. It really is a first class room and I can assure you that you will be treated well as a customer. Stop by and say hi!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Were moving to Gilbertsville which is about 15 min south east of Reading. I played in Florida Bobs room many times before the flood, and left a little lighter on most occasions:D I was also lucky enough to get a few lessons from Mr. Caras years back, and that sparked my interest in 14.1. I play mostly at D&D in Downingtown, Classics in Phoenixville, and sometimes at Markley when they were upstairs. I hear the new action place to play is in Allentown. A few friends of mine have been spotted there, and said it's a nice room with great equipment. I'm really looking forward to catching up with all my old buds in the area, and to see Mickys new D&D Family billiards in Thorndale. Well, my lunch break is over, and the truck is just about filled...back to work!:D

Hi all, well were just about set up here in PA. The move went well with nothing seriously damaged....my cues were with ME!:D we used the ABF U-pack where they drop off a 28' trailer and you pack it yourself, then they come get it and drop it off wherever you want.

The house is great, and there is PLENTY of room in the basement for the billiard room....lucked out there...we never walked through this house before buying it. not to worry, we've bought like that 3 times in the past, it's kind of like Christmas morning when you walk through the door for the first time:p

My wife is freezing, but I like the weather just fine!....we have a nice stone rancher out in the country with a big fireplace, so we'll get it blazing.

Thanks again for the kind words everyone, now it's time to find a good high speed Internet provider...this dial up is archaic!:D

alternative reasons for moving back to PA....

Forget the Rednecks ....here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about
Pennsylvanians...

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't
work there,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
you may live in Pennsylvania.

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a
wrong number,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Philadelphia for the
weekend,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you measure distance in hours,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you have switched from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back
again,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard
without flinching,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both
doors unlocked,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80 and
everybody is passing you,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with
snow,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road
construction,
you may live in Pennsylvania

If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car,
you may live in Pennsylvania .

If you find 10 degrees "a little chilly",
you may live in Pennsylvania .

LOLz...that's sound like Michigan...except in Michigan we're dead last in everything...including jobs...I'm getting out of here aswell...Philly was one place I was considering before I moved to Vegas...I enjoyed Vegas immensely but after 5 years you get sick of brown dirt and brown mountains, brown everywhere...I should have went straight to Philly but was feeling homesick...or maybe just sick for moving back here to Michigan...my plans are to be skating on to Philly by late spring...

It's not often we hear of people moving away

Good Luck with the move, PA is a very pretty state and we'll leave the light on for ya :)

Gerry glad to hear everything went well with your trip to PA. Maybe will get to play now that you are a bit closer.

haha, I beg to differ with you here Purdy...snow is the cause of many accidents here in PA...especially mine! if it were to somehow stay OFF the roads, it'd be just fine...but good luck on that, huh?
anyways, GERRY...I'm in Erie myself so anytime you may be up this way...feel free to let me know here and we'll have to get together to play some! good luck on your situation, Jeff

I'm the reverse, moved to FL from PA. Do miss the snow, trout fishing and deer hunting in a December flurry, but I like the scenery here :)

Sounds like NH, too, except you forgot "mud season" -- which is closely followed by "black fly season"
:) :)
