Segmented wraps

I'm a big fan of wrapless cues. I've seen some that were segmented...that is to say interupted by additional ring packs. I've even seen a couple segmented lizard skin wraps. Is it possible to do a segmented irish liinen wrap? I've never seen one. Does the idea of such a wrap pose any significant obstacles?

It would have to be done from the beginning of the cue. I would simply cut separate pockets for the wrap and keep everything even and smooth.

Good Cuemaking,

I too have liked the looks of these segemtented handles on certain cues. Once I had one in my hands I didn't like the inconsistancy of the feel of it. You may want to try one out before you order one to make sure you don't get the same negative feel like I did. Hell my hand is so sensitive that alot of lizard wraps patterns are to inconsisitant to feel comfortable for me.

I have done a 3 color linien wrap, red, green and white for the Italian flag colors. They were about 4 inches each color with only 1 wrap groove so there was nothing seperating the colors and you couldn't feel any difference from one to the next.

Wood segmented wraps are the nutts.............

I agree. I've had a couple cues with them. Truthfully...segmented or not...I don't care if I ever own another cue that has a wrap of any kind, ever again. I love the feel of a finished wood handle. I like the feel of a nice lizard wrap too...but leather and linen...I just don't care for.

Wasn't a huge fan of leather for my personal until my hands touched elephant. And even then, there is a preference to how the ear was finished before it was cut into wrapping size.

Wood is wood........just a nice canvas in itself.
