Selling Pool Cues For Fishing Rods

On Wednesday evening I watched the Bachelor make his final choice between two hotties. (I was into mindless TV) I wondered if she really won in the end because this guy was a tournament bass fisherman and I thought she might have a better future in front of her with a pro pool player.

NOPE...pool sucks the big weenie one more time in earnings compared to a lesser known sport. (I think) Click onto these websites:

These two are only a small sampling of the tournament earnings that are available out there every week. Are you kidding me? Where does all of the money come from to pay THIS out? Do you have that many spectators paying for tickets to WATCH someone fish? It's bad enough sitting in a boat all day with your thumb up your ass waiting for some fish to bite, do you really mean there are 50,000 people sitting on the shore with thumbs up theirs also watching ripples in the water? That's it, there's nothing in pool...the cues are going bye-bye.

I still remember the look on my 8 ball teammates face when I told him I picked up $300 for coming in third in a little club walleye tournament. You've got to be a pretty good pool player to pick up that kind of dough .
A guy and his son in my walleye club came in second and picked up a few thousand several weeks ago. Weather permitting , I'm gonna fish a tournament Sunday. However, I'd really rather be playing pool. Since I took up pool, my fishing has gone way down.

Are you kidding, fishing dwarfs pool when it comes to public interest. Flip around the dial any week end and there are fishing shows all over the place. It is also a huge industry with zillions of products and dollars. There are no products in pool, maybe some tips, chalk and small time cue companies who barely have a pot to piss in much less underwrite big tournaments. It is easily understandable.

Fishing is a huge market. Even crappie tournaments pay more than pool and that isn't anything you'll ever see on tv. Catfish tournaments pay ever bit as well as most pool tournaments and you'll probably never see that on tv either.

Bass and walleye tournaments have some big money involved, and people are doing what they love to do. Can't beat that with a stick. Last few years it has really taken off, before the last decade it was lower money with only the top guys making a decent living.

I love bass fishing and pool, to me they are a lot alike. Individual concentration and attention to detail makes you better. Unfortuantly for my fishing I play more pool in the fall than fish and that is the best time of the year to be out on the lakes.

I enjoy practicing pool, how do you practice fishing? I know...I'll go into my garage with some string tied around my cue and put it in a pot of water and just keep pulling one Budweiser out after another from the cooler and slurping those babies down in-between naps. Hey...this sounds like more fun than I initially thought. :D

Sounds like a LOT of fun ! It's kinda between the fishing seasons here, not enough ice on the lakes, so your idea is well timed ! However being from Canada, we'll be using real beer :)
