I will be holding a one day event that will be on Sept 9th. $50 entry open to anyone with a calcutta. The venue is Jekyl and Hydes located at Rutland and Lamar in Austin. The doors open at noon. Registration from noon till 1pm. Calcutta at 1pm with play starting immediately after.

I'm sorry if I sound too new, but what exactly is a calcutta? I mean besides the place.

I've been looking around for tourneys to start upping my game and I keep seeing that word.
 
A Calcutta is where players are auctioned off. Then all the money gathered from the auction is divided into places just like the tournament.

Donkey - We have had the honor of hosting numerous Austin players at the Waco Tournament and I will certainly support your event in any way I can! if you have a flyer you can e-mail, please send one.

What is the equipment like at J & H's? 8ft's or 9ft's cloth,balls...etc.

First let me thank you for the support. I think this is going to be a hell of a tournament. There is already a pretty good buzz around town about this event. I am going to have to limit it to 64 players.

There are 18 8 foot C.L. Baileys with red felt and EZ Read Billiard balls. The
tables are well kept and cleaned every night.

$50 enrty race to 7 and 5. Doors open at noon, calcutta starts at 1.p.m with play following.

I just happened across this forum today. Glad to hear of more tournaments in Austin.

What kind of turnout are you expecting? How many signed up so far. I'll be there if I can...

James Davis Sr won it with Little Al getting second. Third went to Lewis Jones. I made it home in time to watch the Cowboys!:D 3 & out.

I did have the pleasure of playing Hall of Famer, Belinda Compos Calhoun. She has a very nice game.
