Seybert’s shipping prices

The price of shipping when ordering their own branded hat was $7 and change.
When ordering a Taom hat, the price of shipping increased substantially.

Tariffs? Drop shipping from a distributor?

I've setup UPS shipping on a few of my sites and the only thing that comes to my mind is they might have screwed up the weight on this item. Instead of 1lb they might have it as 10lbs.

Seyberts just got back to me, don't know what to say. Sort of looks like what I first stated in that some of the hats aren't actually being shipped from them. That doesn't explain though that I put the same hat in my cart three separate times and got three widely varying amounts for shipping. They are aware of it now and I'm sure will be looking into it. All I can say for now is if shipping looks wrong, call and ask.

Hello, thanks for reaching out and letting us know. With the shipping price, it is all quoted directly from USPS and UPS site from the dimensional weight of the package and depends on where it is going, we do not make any money on shipping. Their rates update all the time (UPS everyday) so that could be the reason for fluctuation, I checked this on my end with your info and see it was $7. When something like this arises, customers normally reach out to us to see if there is an error in the backend and if there is we can adjust it to be correct. Thank you for letting us know now, it must have since been fixed as I checked it, we are all human and capable of errors but we need to know about an error for us to fix it. Thanks

Some hats could be in Michigan or other hats could be in China but if they are in the US the price shouldn't vary by more than $1 - 2. I don't think any business would be charging International rates for domestic shipping though. Do auto manufacturers make more money off of selling cars or car parts?? Both are profitable and don't need gouged shipping!

USPS Ground is regional, I'm in the great lakes then there's NE, Mid Atlantic, SE, SW, MW, W PNW. The furthest regions will have higher rates but NOT MUCH difference for lightweight items. My price to ship an 8oz hat to Seyberts in a 6x6x6 box = $4.88, they may not even know or even care since most of the items are bulkier and people will be likely buying multiple items. You may try to login as a guest, I didn't have any shipping choices.

20 lbs shipped to PHX for me would be $26 but 25 lbs is $61 some of the USPS rate hikes are WHACKY. But either way Seyberts is insanely gouged.
They set the model to force you to buy the minimum to avoid high shipping fees.
Whenever I run across one of these, it's my last purchase there. If enough people do this, it would change real fast, but not many do. We've become way too complacent in this country.

Amen to that brother, couldn`t agree with you more

some don'ts

don't order high costs shipping of things you can live without

don't order near big holidays, do it way before.

don't buy what you can easily do without and, do invest it for the future to grow when you will really need it.

they're a pretty small outfit. they aren't amazon or ebay. lots of small co's do the exact same thing. has nothing to do with being complacent, butthurt maybe, but not complacent. ;) relax brother.
