I bet the title caught your attention. On a serious note what is the best way to keep your cue shaft clean? Abuddy of mine told me to take a damp cloth and clean it. That kinda scares me when it is a 200.00 shaft.

Lighter fluid scares me because I am a smoker. My luck I would catch my stick on fire. I am really interested in the alcohol idea. Does anyone know if this works.poolandpokerman said:The cue maker I use says lighter fluid does it better then anything, what do all think of that. I haven't tried it, sounds risky to me. But that is what he says.

1. Use 2000 grit sandpaper on the shaft. This opens the pores on the wood
making easier to clean.
2. Rub the shaft down with Magic Eraser and denatured alcohol.
2.5 Rub with lighter fluid on a paper towel to get rid of the Magic Eraser's particles. Lighter fluid won't raise the grain (more than it already is).
3. Use 2000 grit sandpaper again. The wood grain will be raised from cleaning
this helps the shaft to get smooth again.
4. Apply SlipStic. Its a condtioner and works really well. I usually let this set about 15 minutes before I do the next step. I like pledge a lot too inspite of slipstic.
5. Use a piece of leather and burnish the shaft.
This works really well for me.
