I asked a similiar question before but didn't get much response.....I want to ask a different way:

I'm thinking about ordering another Schon shaft with a Triangle tip, but before I do that I was going to test the hit with one of my Joss shafts to see if I like the hit of the Triangle on the Schon. However, if the Joss and Schon shafts are totally different in construction (taper and ferrule differences) then this won't be much of a comparison and/or test. Does anyone know, for the sake of feeling the hit, if the Joss shafts and Schon shafts are similiar on construction--enough to possibly tell if I'm going to like a Schon shaft with a Triangle. Has anyone tried this?

It will be close enough, although the shaft tapers are different. My concern would be to get two triangle tips that actually play the same. There is going to be some difference but as I said, close enough. As an example I use the same tips on two different shaft tapers and diameters. The tips feel almost identical.

Gee, I was going the other way! I've always thought of the Joss as having the longest taper of the stainless steel jointed cues. I think the major difference in the stock shafts is the thickness. Joss shafts are a standard 13.25mm off the shelf, where Schons tend to be somewhere in the 12.75-13mm range.

Yep, most Joss shafts have a long pro taper and are 13.25 mm. Schon shafts are or very near 13 mm and have a long gradual taper. Read that as conical type taper and I think they are a stiffer shaft.
