I'm amazed nobody has pointed out that it's not all about taper and tip.
-you can put shaft "A" with a specific tip and taper on many different Butts and it will play different on all of them.
-It is about weight distribution in the entire stick, your stroke(different cue specs for different strokes), and the proper matching of all of the materials in the stick to the stroke and player and game..
I also have an I-2 with a 12.75mm diameter and a Moori Soft tip. As you, I like both the I-2 and the I-3. I play a lot more with the I-3. Can't beat the McDermott warranty on the I series shafts. I recently sent 3 shafts in for new Moori tips, cleaning, and re-seal. I only had to pay the postage and handling fee of $21.95 for all three. That's about $7/each. Their svc mgr Jayme is great to work with.
You forgot to mention type of balls used, speed of the cloth, and whether or not there is a full moon![]()
-I'm just talking about variables with the stick.- of course there are hundreds of variables that affect the game, I just brought up a few that affect the stick. Just trying to give people a different perspective.
-as for rolling your eyes, if you cannot feel the differences in variables in sticks and your game isn't at that level, then you should play with whatever taper and tip you feel is the best and hope it gives you the mental confidence to play well.
