I have not had that problem. I use system 3 quickcure 5.

I took his advice and use this method on all my cues (when I do something stupid, like ding the shaft) never had any issue. Now... you can use my advice, or not use it, means very little to me. I was trying to help, and gave advice that I have used myself, many times. I would never intentionally mislead someone, or give advice I haven't used myself.
This is the Internet and everyone has an opinion, what everyone doesn't have however... 40 years of cue building experience. That's the advice I want to hear, and the advice I trust.

I was a little afraid of the oil, like the wax method, I went with ChapStick and burnish.
