Wheres the best place to buy a metal rack like chris uses

I bought 4 of them from LOWE's hardware store for about $50.00 a piece. They stock them near the closet shelving organizers. Wheels are another $10.00 per rack. Easy to put together. I cut a piece of 3/8" plywood for the base of mine and drilled screws into thr frame to make it more stable. Hope this helps.

Screw hooks and old telephone cable racks. I hang'em from the big end.

I took an old wire refrigerator shelf and hung it from the ceiling in my basement. Similar to what RocketQ shows above, I screw hooks into the end of the pieces of stock and hang them from the rack. Sorry, no picture at this time.

You could do the same from Lowes or HD metal shelving and buy a boatload of screw hooks. Basically anything wire slotted. I have used metal hangers in the past with a support in the center.

I've tried stackable wire shelfs to hang from. It suprising how many You can hang on each one. They are only roughly 12x16, but hold quite a few shafts.

There's a place called 80/20inc. that sells on ebay. A while back they had some coated mesh wire they were selling that would be perfect for building a rack or hanger, but I checked yesterday after reading this, and they had no more listed. Seems like they were priced very reasonable though when they had them.

There are all kinds of free things that could be used though, as mentioned fridge shelves are one. Wire closet shelves etc. As long as the wire isn't too thin, and they are ridgid enough, then they may work out well. Greg

check your local craigslist. sometimes you can find wire shelves people are looking to get rid of cheap.

Target has wire shelves for $19.99. Sometimes on sale for $14.99.
It has 81 1.125" square holes. If you buy two, you can easily build 3 racks to hold 243 shafts. I use zip ties to reinforce their joints.

Hehehe.
I love Target. I avoid WallsofChinaMart as much as I can.
At Target, you can also get those half-split paper towels.
