Hey all. So I'm looking to get a nice second shaft for my Pechauer SE2 cue I bought about a year and a half ago. http://www.seyberts.com/products/Pechauer_SE2-1905-302.html Everest tip and I love the cue.

Anyway I have been looking at the Predator 314/2 for a while now but have never pulled the trigger. Are any of the other options out there just as good for a mid handicap player? GCore, i1,2,3, Tiger?

I have been playing most of my life (33 now) and don't use a lot of english. I've always been the find any angle to use as opposed to fancy jump shots or masse type of player.

I'm pretty good at speed control and power control on my shots. I'm really looking for something to help minimize off hits when aiming.

I'm not opposed to dropping the money for a Predator shaft but if something else for a little cheaper would work just as good then I'm all for it.

Thanks in advance.

if you don't use a lot of sidespin then a low deflection shaft won't do much for you..as their main purpose is to reduce the aiming compensation when using sidespin

I have tried just about all of them. I currently have an original 314, a 314-2, an OB1 and an OB classic.

My favorite by FAR is the OB classic. I believe it has the LD characteristics while still feeling more like a standard shaft. I love it, and will be getting 2 more soon.

All of the shafts I listed are good shafts, and I don't think you would be diappointed with any of them, but I really prefer the OB classic.

Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

Really, the best thing is to seek out some local players that have these and get a chance to hit with different ones first. I know that isn't always an option, but it is worth a shot. Predators are by far the most popular, you should have no prob getting your hands on a 314 and 314-2 at least.

You are about to get recomendations for each of these shafts and more, so you will kind of be at the same spot you are now. Even if you go with the one that MOST people suggest, it is no gaurantee that it will be the one that is best suited for you.

true but I think the majority of my miss hits tend to be from either slightly taking my eye off while taking my shot, a little extra movement in my arm while stroking, etc. I'm hoping that similar to golf clubs that offer larger sweet spots to help with keeping things on track with miss hits that a better shaft option can help with the occasional miss hit in this situation as well as help with aiming compensation like you said when needed.

I've played maybe 2 games with a friends GCore and while I liked it it was a bit hard to get a good feel for it as it was a heavier cue and different tip installed. Just felt a bit off to me. That and it was only 2 games.

I have been plaing with the same cue for over 20 years I personally believe find something you like and Stick with it. Teach it how to play your game and go with it. you will have bad days maybe weeks but trust it.... bad days= bad days bad couple days = your getting better bad weeks = your getting a lot better........peeks and valleys.. BUT its the INDIAN not the arrow

I personally use the OB1. I loved my old maple shaft that I have on my Wayne Holmes, but after going to OB1, I know for certain shots, that I can rely on myself having an 'off' day but still managing to get postion on the next ball etc.

At first, you will really dislike any LD shaft, especially if you been playing with solid maple for past # of years...stick it out as I have, and you will see the benefits withing 30hours of QUALITY practice :)
