Shark Move Part 58 - Verbal Concession

Sounds like he conceded to me, and if someone else heard him say that, I would say that it was right to pick them up and rerack. If no one else heard it, I would for sure double check with him first to make sure that's what he meant. Should you have to do that, no, but some people are that way.
I had a situation happen to me last year where it looked as though my opponent fouled. he went over to the table where they were sitting at and I was already getting up as I was positive he fouled. I then, before picking the ball up, looked at him and said, ball in hand right? He just looked at me like I wasn't there and never said yes or no. I picked up the cue ball and all hell breaks loose with him saying what are you doing, there was no foul. Some pool players are just jerks, no two ways about it.
Its sad, but sometimes I think if the guy needs a win that bad, he can have it bcuz I don't. Just don't let him get out of his chair for the rest of the time. Take it to him. Gloves are off now.

I would respond to a guy who says " There you go" or "run em out" with "That sounds like a concession". but he didn't hear very well, so it did not make a difference to him and he kept repeating it on future games.

This guy also claimed to be able to make a corner ball on the break a majority of the time. One time when we were playing a set where the first game determined stripes or solids for the entire set, he would always put one of his balls in that corner. One time, he put the other ball there by mistake and reracked to change it when he realized it. I made a comment about intentional racking being unsportsmanlike and should be loss of the game. It was another ignored comment. Maybe I should have spoken louder.

My question was, "is that a concession or is it just a shark move?" The hard case ones that didn't go ahead and concede were in for a rough ride. I would make a loud and abusive response that invited mayhem. It served to elevate my adrenaline and sharpened my focus. Garuntee my best shot. 🤷‍♂️

Well being quiet and polite was no fun. 🤷‍♂️ Especially when the shot was missed and I knew I had been sharked.
Once down that path was enough for me.

It's a shark move, not a concession.

Anyone willing to rake the balls thinking that's an automatic concession is playing with fire. Not worth the risk. I would directly ask my opponent if he's conceding the rack. If he denies it, then clearly indicate that he's sharking and that won't be tolerated.

It’s a concession when HE rakes the balls. Otherwise, I’m shooting.

If you think you can shark me you’re wrong.
I’ve gambled with blasting music, drunk people banging into me, women popping out their breasts at the pocket i’m shooting and many other distractions.

If you shark me it shows you are desperate and have to pull moves which I take as a mental advantage.
You’re getting a lesson

After playing for so long my tolerance level for assholes has reached its limit.
If you shark me I am calling you out on it and everyone in the area will hear it loud and clear.
I guarantee you won’t like what comes out of my mouth and wouldn’t phase me in the least. I would embarrass you to death.

I would keep you in the chair fuming and embarrassed beating the crap out of you .
If you unscrew you still have to pay up.
Insecure pieces of $hit.

I’ve said it 1000 times. I love pool but can’t stand many pool players.
I prefer 3 cushion billiards, none of this bullcrap goes on. If it does it’s very few and far between. I don’t recall ever having to deal with idiots.

Tournament Play - know the rules. If tournament states mark pocket of game ball then mark the pocket.
Maybe never concede and/or receive a concession - play the game to the end period.

My thoughts as a player is I do not expect my opponent to give me a concession and I do not request one, and/or put my self in a spot to need one.

Story....years ago I concede a game ball to a player and started to rack. I got a good look at the expression on his face and it was of disappointment. Even though he was most likely going to successfully pocket the game ball, I took that away from him. Technically he never made that game ball and therefore did not get that psychological boost from achieving that shot. for accomplished players this most likely not big deal, but for not so seasoned players can be a factor.
I teach a lot of new players and when we are sparring games, I never concede a shot, due to my philosophy on this.

I play a guy pretty regularly and he has a habit of taking balls out of the pockets when I am shooting the game ball . I never pull the trigger, in my mind he has just conceded . I have told him numerous times not to do it . still does it tho . Am I wrong ?

Chuckg

why not just ask him if he is conceding the game when he does that. if so great.

if not tell him if he does it again you will quit playing him or consider it a loss of game .

and if gambling and he loses all the time to you, let him do it. the sucker is always right and can get away with things for being one.
