Despite my DAZN gripes, Matchroom is really stepping up with prompting junior events. This series is a great idea. Perhaps a junior event in Asia is next.

It is great to see MR promoting this game at every level, but the junior tournaments are especially terrific additions to the calendar.

I do have a quibble with Ms F's love of all things Jason. Lives in USA with American born family and owns a pool hall here.

DAZ would have been my pick.

Just sayin

Does anyone know if they are doing single elimination like they did with the SVB Junior Open? That seemed to be a big negative of that event and would be a shame if it is the same for this one.

We all love DAZ but let's be serious here.

Jayson is doing more to get people excited about pool and helping it to improve its image than almost anybody. Year in and year out, he's the most dramatic and charismatic player at the Mosconi, Matchroom's most visible event.

On the other hand, after a few years of very limited participation in Matchroom events, Darren had a code of conduct violation in 2022 in which he abused an official. His violation led to a suspension which, in his own words, was deserved.

Jayson has participated in Matchroom events far more than Darren. He has led by example and played by the rules.

Why on earth would Emily choose Darren over Jayson?

I think the better question is why wasn’t Two Time Champ Albin chosen, he’s a true professional by play and sportsmanship and actions? Or any of the Euro World Champs… just my opinion, I don’t think Shaw is the best European for young people to look up to beyond just he’s pool play. Although I will say Shaw is definitely working toward the right direction and improving that part of his professional career.
And I would only look at this like the Mosconi Cup, Europe is Europe. When they do Asia, I’d pick Big Ko… just my thoughts…
Have a nice day everybody.

Yes, Albin is a good role model.

I’m thinking Shaw is an investor in this event. Matchroom could have picked any number of players. Jayson happened to be the one who agreed to put up some of his own cash.

Well, first, she wouldn't pick anyone over Jayson.

Darren served the suspension, and said he was wrong. But, I feel he has done at least as much as Shaw in helping pool players and the game.
