Shaw v Woodward just announced!

I really haven't kept up with this match.

What exactly does invitational qualifier mean?

There are 16 players that are invited to matches like this.

Then those that won will play an 8-man tournament, winner gets $20K.

So you can pay $20 and watch each of these 8 long race matches, $160+ total. Then pay some more to watch the 8-man tournament.

Each match, 20% of ppv profits will go to the winner.

Except there was no mention of a 16 player invitational until Sunday.

It was outright deceiving and they know it.

Apparently that was $1,300 for Shaw for this latest match.

I heard no mention of the players' expenses (travel, lodging, food). I wonder if those were also paid. Otherwise, both players in each match could be at a loss from playing in a qualifier.

I guess we can stop saying Europeans don't have gamble.

Based on this not actually being a gambling match, or even an exhibition and after Shaw backed out of his previously scheduled gambling match against Bergman.

I would like to retract my previous post.

What looks better on a poster “$20,000!!!” or “20% of PPV goes to the winner”?

The poster was certainly misleading but I enjoyed attending the match in person. About 90% of the VIP seats were sold. Perhaps 10 people showed up for the $15 general admission. The venue was very nice. It was in a mini ballroom at the Lone Star Park horse racing track. There was a full bar and a concession stand serving hot ballgame type food. They had T-shirt’s for a fair price of $20 with the image of the poster on back.

I’m not surprised few showed up for general admission. The only chairs were vip and there was nothing else to do at the event. The one benefit of other recent Dallas events such as CJ v Dennis was it was at a poolhall, so if you didn’t have vip seats you could watch some, go shoot pool some, etc. and find a seat someplace.
