Shaw v Woodward just announced!

Lots & lots of action TALK in Birmingham. I had just started going out to play last January then had a wreck in Sept so hadn't been out since. Bumpers And Poppa's are the 2 places to find games if you come through B'ham. Good luck on your journeys and safe traveling!

Thank you sir I'll PM you ahead of time if I'm coming through we can have a beer or two or just hit a few my friend!

So Shaw won the day 27:11 which is pretty strong. Quite sure lot's of people thought this would get closer.

Now that the dust has settled, is it safe to say Shaw has been vindicated in backing out of the Bergman match for what his reasons were "not agreed upon table conditions"?
The guy showed he is a long match monster and his reasons for backing out weren't really respected that much here by some on AZ. Did he earn any respect back with this victory?

This certainly was an impressive defeat of our Mosconi Cup MVP.

Speaking for myself, I did not gain any respect for Shaw's reasoning for backing out of the Bergman match. Jayson Shaw has no reason to think that he can't beat anybody on any table. For some reason, Jayson just decided he didn't want to play.

I saw him ''manhandle'' Kaci in the Finals of the last E. Coast 2017 US Open. He play like Earl in dead punch....that says allot.

Yes, absolutely. He gave valid reasons in the first place.

He gave valid reasons. I'm not sure why people are having such a hard time understanding this given that he gave a fully understandable explanation

I was there for that, as well. What a great Open for Shaw, and well deserved title of champion that year. Your analogy to playing like Earl in dead punch is accurate, ID>

The guy was relaxed off table, and a beast on it. I snapped this right before the lag broke out.....

I think it validates posting no-show money.

Justin said he would play him on any table in the room.

Some players who have their ear a little closer to the ground thinks he had trouble
digging up the dough....some stake horses backed out.

Why? The answer is easy - this is AZB, pure and simple. :D:D:D

I got to see day 1, but not day 2 when Shaw stopped screwing around.
Good match, though at times they seemed too casual and there were some very easy shots missed.

I wanted to say, I was also fooled by the poster. It clearly is trying to imply they are playing for $20,000.

That single word, "qualifier" is easy to overlook, because all pool posters have some gibberish that allows them
to call a money match something other than a money match, like
"2-man winner take all invitational tournament, $10,000 entry fee" or whatever.

We're already used to pool promoters deceiving us by putting the "in the middle" amount instead of the actual bet,
so I took the flyer to mean they were risking $10,000. If not their own, then someone's.

I let them know I didn't appreciate the misleading poster, and of course their response
was typical for any pool streamer - they implied it's the customer's fault for being confused,
and not the people who made the confusing material.
Then they said they can't fit all the little details on the poster or it would be unreadable.

IMO it was not an accident.

But they had a good reputation up until now and I'd probably give them another chance,
as long as their flyers for the next events aren't misleading.

I really haven't kept up with this match.

What exactly does invitational qualifier mean?
