I Have shipped a few cues and a cue make i know does also, and the idea i came up with is to goto a Print Shop and ask them for one of the roll ends with the chocks for the ends.
I Used to work for a printer, and these roll ends are very solid. about 1/4 inch thick and come in all sizes. just peel off the remaining paper that might be on them and you are set to go!
Believe me these things are solid, it would take an awful lot to crush them!
