That sounds right. A few years ago I ran into a guy with the oldest Helmstetter cue I've ever seen. I thought it was a Frank Paradise, but the guy confirmed that it was a Helmstetter from the 60s, DC, and that Gordon Hart had worked with him. We unscrewed the joint, and I recognized it as Gordon's super joint with threads inside and outside the shaft pilot. Gordon would later put that joint in some Viking cues.
