Shipping cue

Some upstanding member here please slap me squarely for using USPS again. Bought a cue and asked for USPS shipment, it's been 10 days since shipment, with a full 5 days to hit the regional distribution center around 60 miles from origin. Now another 5 days and no update. Original estimated delivery was June 4.

And the USPS tracking site now has a banner stating possible delays due to the World Cup. How does the World Cup materially impact USPS?! They were waiting to roll out that excuse for months I bet.

The seller has been great to deal with, no fault to him.
I stopped using them for anything but letters moons ago.

Received willfully. Been through it before, the lack of movement is frustrating.
The last straw for me, was a cue I shipped to a guy who was literally 2 hours away from my location. The cue took north of 10 days to travel 2 hours away.
That was the final nail in the coffin for me.

I like putting it into bubble wrap and then into a piece of PVC pipe with caps. Then pack that into a box and ship. It’s virtually indestructible packed like that. May seem like overkill but the animals that work for these shipping companies are truly inventive when it comes to ways to handle packages roughly. The buyer is going to have PayPal protection for his cash if cue is damaged and the seller is on the hook. Trying to collect insurance even if you pay for it is an adventure at best. It’s just worth the extra time and slight expense to save those headaches.
I haven't read all the comments but if you place an identical label on the tube then it has a better chance of arriving if those animals break open the box. I've double boxes items for shipping and always place an additional label on the inside box. Might not make a difference but makes me feel like I've done all I can with shipping it.
